Opening night is set for Thursday, September 29 and the stellar ensemble cast is ready to transform the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts into Marty’s Place-the chosen venue in For The Record: Scorsese — American Crime Requiem.

Directed by Anderson Davis and co-created by Shane Scheel,  For The Record: Scorsese – American Crime Requiem is an outstanding musical composition- uniting iconic music and moments from Scorsese’s movies in a live performance set to an unforgettable soundtrack. Co-produced by The Wallis and Ad Astra Live, and generously made possible by the support of David C. Bohnett – it’s the production you’ve been waiting to see and you’ll be talking about for ages.

The cast of this show reads like an awards show attendee list - Tony Award-winner John Lloyd Young (Broadway’s Jersey Boys), Tony nominee Carmen Cusack (Broadway’s Bright Star), Pia Toscano (American Idol), Lindsey Gort (The Carrie Diaries), Grammy nominee B. Slade and For The Record alums James Byous, Dionne Gipson, Olivia Harris, Douglas Kreeger (Broadway’s Les Miserables), Justin Mortelliti, Jason Paige (Pokemon) and Zak Resnick (Broadway’s Mamma Mia) will all take the stage at The Wallis as part of the cast of For The Record: Scorsese — American Crime Requiem.

The setting is Marty's Place — a four-tier venue rising from the orchestra pit to the light grid — and take audiences from a Lower East Side dive bar to an Italian restaurant, a Las Vegas casino and a classic rock concert stage.  As the show unfolds you’ll accompany the characters as they not only rise through the physical levels but also ascend in their social status as well. They begin as drunken misfits frequenting the seedy bars of the Lower East Side and move on to couples enjoying an evening out, high rollers and head honchos living the high life in Las Vegas and finally as Rock Gods soaring high above us all. Forty years of Scorsese's storytelling through films such as Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street and more combines with a soundtrack you’ll be humming along to for days.

Do-wop hits such as "Be My Baby" and "Chariot" share the stage with classic crooner standbys like “My Way" and "Rags To Riches" leading in to classic rock anthems like "Comfortably Numb," "House Of The Rising Sun," "Gimme Shelter" and others.

A limited number of on-stage seats are available, placing theatergoers in the action interacting with the actors for a truly immersive experience. All patrons should take their seats in the Bram Goldsmith Theater by 7:30pm for a special in-theater pre-show, and brand new at The Wallis, patrons are encouraged to bring their drinks into the theater. This show is not recommended for those under the age of 18 due to scenes containing strong violence and very strong language, gunshots that will be fired during the performance and the use of atmospheric haze effects, strobe light effects and herbal cigarettes.

Co Creator and Executive Producer Shane Scheel says - “Since the beginning, For The Record has been a unique, lively experience due in part to the cocktails and food offerings before, during and after the show which makes for quite a thrilling night. We are also very excited for patrons to see the four-tier stage and set which allows for the show to continue to be immersive and bring the actors closer to the audience."

Playgoers will especially appreciate the after show experience. Audiences can gather back at The Bar @ The Wallis and the Promenade Terrace after each performance for post-show hangouts. Thursday nights bring a roster of some of Los Angeles’ finest recording artists performing sets inspired by the soundtracks of Scorsese’s films – the lineup might surprise or thrill you. Friday nights feature For The Record alums, comprised of talent from past shows including FTR: Tarantino, FTR: Baz Luhrmann and FTR: Brat Pack, performing around the piano in special intimate concerts. Saturdays, feature For The Record: Scorsese cast members serenading the audience with performances of a selection of songs from the play and the era’s within it.

With a limited run two week run you’ll want to purchase your tickets before shows sell out and you’re left singing a sad, sad tune yourself.
