9th Annual Edwardian Ball & World's Faire (2/9 - 2/10)

PARADOX Media & Vau de Vire proudly present The 9th Annual The Edwardian Ball Los Angeles, and the spectacular debut of Los Angeles’s first-ever Edwardian World’s Faire. Born in the darkened hallows of a San Francisco nightclub, this multi-night, multi-city, multi-media extravaganza has grown over the past eighteen years into an internationally recognized festival of the arts, now presenting a uniquely wonderful Edwardian world with the blessing of The Edward Gorey Charitable Trust.

The Edwardian Ball is an elegant and whimsical celebration of art, live music, riveting theatre, fashion, literature, ballroom dancing, DJs, circus, and the beloved creations of the late, great author and illustrator Edward Gorey. Set in a romanticized, gilded and gentile Neo-Victorian and Edwardian-era, a gothic and steampunk-tinged distant past intertwines with an elegantly imagined future. The 2018 season is proud to announce the featured Gorey story of the season, The Raging Tide: or, The Black Doll's Imbroglio: — Gorey’s one-of-a-kind tale that many modern fellows might call a “choose your own adventure”!?

Peruse The Globe Theater located in the Garland Building in the heart of the Broadway Downtown Theatre District. Built in 1913, this three level baroque centennial theater is an elegant dramatic play house. Capture a moment of history in the Portrait Booth. Sip a locally-distilled absinthe cocktail, and dance the night away. Lose yourself in the Museum of Wonders. Explore the “Edwardian Odditorium” filled with curiosities, natural wonders, sideshow performances, fortune telling, tarot reading, live painting.  Explore the all-new Underground Gardens. Enjoy the expanded menu of delicious bites from Edward's Kitchen. Plus, many more surprises waiting in the gilded wings. Coat check, full bars, and hot food available all night.

The two-night celebration unfolds with the renowned Edwardian World's Faire on Friday, February 9th. 2018 brings a celebration of space and the exploration of life beyond Earth. Witness wonders, play games, immerse yourself in a vision of the future where worlds unfold.

At the annual World’s Faire historic and novel characters intermingle as true-life adventures blend with fantastical lands. Live the excitement of the age of exploration, reimagined through the lens of today and beyond. Get lost in the delightful Edwardian Gardens, as the most civil of games warp and weave a backdrop to steam-powered mechanics and chance encounters. Revel in a modern day Belle Époque where cultures meet, blend, dance, and collide. A worldly adventure ahead of Saturday night’s Ball, the World's Faire presents a once-in-this-lifetime adventure!

Following the World’s Faire, return to the Ballroom on Saturday, February 10th for the most decadent night of the Season! This is the night that started it all, The Edwardian Ball, presented by co-hosts Rosin Coven and Vau de Vire Society. Ballroom dancing leads way to stunning performances both on and offstage in a collage of fashion, theatre, music, circus performance, and dance. Each year, The Edwardian Ball presents a featured Edward Gorey tale in an original stage performance. 2018 features The Raging Tide: or, The Black Doll's Imbroglio: Which just so happens to be the patron saint’s one and only Choose-Your-Own-Adventure escapade.
