Cash-strapped New Zelander Burt Munro (Anthony Hopkins) doesn’t much resemble your prototypical speed demon, and upon first glance, his Indian motorcycle looks like it belongs in a museum instead of at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in hot pursuit of the land-speed world record. But if the laws of age, technology and bald tires can't stop a man with a dream, little else stands fit to interfere.

Were Munro merely product of some screenwriter's imagination, he would still be a character for the ages, his film a funny and uncommon mix of sleepy character sketching and climactic thrills. That the legend is entirely real makes Indian that much sweeter a treat.
