The 2019-2020 winter season kicked off in Southern California with the largest November snowstorm in recent history, resulting in the biggest Thanksgiving weekend ever at Mountain High. See below for stats from the weekend, as well as what’s on deck next at our closest winter resort. Are you interested in covering the upcoming Santa Sunday or visiting the resort to enjoy the snow? I’m happy to arrange media tickets for you.

Since being the first to open in Southern California on November 23rd, Mountain High has enjoyed considerable snowfall and favorable early-season conditions, resulting in a record-setting Thanksgiving weekend.

  • Mountain High received its best Thanksgiving snowfall in decades with up to 36 inches of powder over three days.
  • Mountain High’s East Resort opened in November for the first time in 15 years (the second time in 30 years) providing guests 1,600 vertical feet of uninterrupted terrain plus gladed tree skiing areas and views of the Mojave Desert.
  • More than 10,000 guests enjoyed Mountain High’s 46 open trails and Yeti’s Snow Park play area over the course of the holiday week.

“This is the best start we’ve seen in years,” said Karl Kapuscinski, President and CEO. “This is setting up to be our best season in over a decade.”

Looking Ahead: Local weather patterns remain active and more snow is expected this week. The Yeti’s Snow Park at the top of the East Resort is scheduled to open this weekend followed by Yeti’s Snow Park at the North Resort December 21.

Guests can look forward to Sunday, December 15th’s for Santa Sunday’s Charity Run.
