Laker Fans Create Kobe Bryant Memorial at Staples Center and L.A. Live

Los Angeles Laker fans continue to come out and add to a fan memorial at Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles that was created after the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others this past Sunday.  The memorial has carried over to L.A. Live and management at both venues have added to the memorial with digital displays along with billboards for fans to express their thoughts and condolences to all those involved in this tragedy.  It's a surreal experience as grieving fans wander through a maze of flowers, signs, and Bryant memorabilia that are on display as tourists mill about and a business expo takes place onsite. The experience at the memorial site will remind many of the death of Princess Diana in 1997 when Londoners flocked to Buckingham Palace with similar tokens of their grief after she died in a car accident. As for myself, I'll always remember this moment in the same way I did in 1979 when New York Yankee baseball catcher, Thurman Munson was killed in a plane crash. However, this time, the hurt, the loss, the sheer pain is so much more because five families have been shattered by the loss of nine loved ones including children whose lives were tragically cut short.
