I know it's a rare quality, but I love going to parties. They're fun, they're social, and they're way cheaper than going to a bar. Halloween parties are the best of all.

During such events, you're not even responsible for your actions because you're not actually yourself. You're Winnie the Pooh, or Count Chocula, or maybe even the tail end of an Andulasian Stallion (your friend Chet is the front part, of course). Halloween parties have all the responsibility of a weekend in Vegas … or Tijuana, depending on your level of sobriety.

If you are looking for a soundtrack to your Halloween gala, look no farther than Patent Pending by Heavens. Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba provides the nightmarish vocals, while Josiah Steinbrick is responsible for the richly layered and often unpredictable instrumentation.

The title track, “Patent Pending,” is the most visual and visceral track I've heard since Alkaline Trio's creepy hit “Radio.” Buy this album and get to a Halloween party!
