Summer arrives and with it comes our summer exhibition COLA 2025–Design and Visual Artist Exhibition, the 28th edition of the City of Los Angeles (COLA) Independent Master Artist Project (IMAP) Grant Program.

This annual exhibition celebrates the creative visions of some of Los Angeles’s most exceptional and innovative artists—each selected for their unique voice, practice, and contribution to the city’s cultural fabric. This year, we’re proud to debut new and original work by the 2025 COLA Design and Visual Artist Grantees: Carmen Argote, Olivia Booth, Bryan Ida, Flora Kao, and Jemima Wyman. Chosen by a panel of respected community members and past COLA grantees, these five artists were invited to explore and present their boldest ideas—free from thematic constraints. The result is a dynamic mix of sculpture, video, photography, drawing, painting, and installation that reflects the breadth and depth of artistic practice in Los Angeles today. From experiments in glass and explorations of Barnsdall Art Park, to layered portraits using historical legal texts, camouflage patterns inspired by protest, and oversized meditations on cultural mourning rituals—this year’s exhibition is as expansive as it is intimate.
