As fun and exciting as a night of debauchery in Hollywood might be, sometimes an evening of something different can be just what the doctor ordered. The recently opened redwhite+bluezz is building a devoted following based on the concept of offering jaded Los Angeles citizens a little variety to spice up their lives.

Located in Old Town Pasadena, the club stands apart from the pubs and other bars that line Colorado Boulevard by presenting live jazz and blues acts every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. The venue also hosts wine classes led by Certified Sommelier Russ Meek. Not only can you learn more about wine, but you can relax with some drinks and food, then sit back and enjoy some amazing music as well.

“For years I've been looking for an establishment that brought together my favorite things: great wine, cool live music and fine food – a place where you could spend an entire evening enjoying the best entertainment, food and drink. Other places might have had one or two of the elements, but I could never find a place that had it all. So I decided to open it up myself,” says redwhite+bluezz owner André Vener.

With ten years of experience in the music industry doing event bookings and ambiance, Vener partnered with close friends Sean Tange and Bryan Gallyot who share a combined 20 years in hospitality. Chef Gabriel Contreras and Meek round out the stellar leadership at the venue.

A graduate of Cordon Blue Academy, Contreras fuses French techniques with his Latin heritage to create scrumptious dishes. Contreras is turning heads with starters like the “duo beef sliders” and “crab claw seviche” and his delicious seafood and beef entrees.

To compliment the delectable food, the bar has over 40 varieties of wine on tap via a state of the art cruvinet system. Meek's wine and cheese tasting “flights” let you tour the world from your dinner table. For those wishing to hone their wine-tasting skills, attend a Flight School course at the club. At 6 p.m. every Thursday night, Meek leads students through wines of the world for two hours.

The real highlight that puts the Bluezz in redwhite+bluezz, is the live music component of the bar. Whether you've had an entire meal or just a drink, some time in the Bluezz is a perfect way to cap off your evening. Let the music fill your ears with the Blues beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Jazz beginning at 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Nestled in the historic Edison El Rey building, the club possesses beautiful ambiance for your next romantic date, night out with friends or an evening of flying solo just to unwind. It's the perfect mix that Vener always hoped for.
