If you've attended a Flaming Lips concert in the past few years, you might be familiar with Let's Go Sailing. Engineer Chris Chandler is very fond of the group and has often played unfinished versions of its songs over the house p.a. at Lips' shows.

Shana Levy, late of the band Irving, is the songwriter and singer for Let's Go Sailing, a five-piece outfit that also features bassist Nikki Monninger of Silversun Pickups.

Levy's breathy vocals drip with melancholia on “All I Want from You is Love,” as Tanya Haden's cello playing deepens the emotion. Levy includes an occasional cheery number like “Icicles,” but this is mostly depressed stuff.

Depressed though, in a comforting way; Levy's delivery is very personal, like she's singing a lullaby to a child or whispering in a loved-one's ear. Everybody can use a little “it'll be alright” attitude once in awhile, and Let's Go Sailing offers a pleasing way to take that medicine.
