From the same creative team that brought you James Beach and Canal Club — James Evans and Daniel Samakow — comes the latest addition to the list of must-visit Venice restaurants. Offering traditional Jewish deli fare, as well as California fusion and bistro dishes, Danny's Venice Deli is your new home away from home.

With intimate high-walled booths, framed photos of Venice Beach past and a gracious wait staff, at Danny's, you feel like you're dining at a beloved friend's home. Not to mention the amazing caricature murals that'll have you enthralled for at least an hour.

The faces of Oliver Stone, James Dean, Charlie Chaplin and other screen legends are immortalized on the deli walls, along with those of local Venice personalities. For a $50 donation, your own face can be added to one of the murals.

There's even a sandwich in honor of the mural artist on the menu. The “Cronk” Monsieur features Neuski ham, Emmenthaler Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard on panini bread. This is just one of the many specialty sandwiches the deli presents.

Danny's Favorite adds chopped liver, sliced onion and 1,000 island dressing to a classic pastrami sandwich. The Venice Beach Club (grilled salmon, Applewood bacon, avocado and 1,000 island dressing on rye) and Saint Marks Caprese Panini (vine-ripe tomatoes, pesto, mozzarella, arugula and fresh basil) are also tasty.

Of course, deli favorites abound. Besides a BLT, tuna, chicken or egg salad sandwiches, you can slurp matzoh ball/chicken noodle soup and nosh on potato latkes and Venice potato salad aplenty.

Named after the world's largest indoor saltwater pool once located near the deli's location on Windward Avenue, the Famous Venice Plunge is certified Angus Roast Beef on a French Roll with a cup of special beef au jus on the side.

The real gems of the deli are its rotisserie items. The rotisserie chicken is simply out of this world.

One bite into the crispy skin peppered with herbs and juices begin to drip from the corner of your mouth. Served with garlic broccoli and fries, this is comfort food at its finest.

The deli has daily rotisserie dinner specials featuring lamb, Cornish game hen, duck or prime rib. Also, make sure to check out the Artist Specials featuring smaller portions of popular dishes at affordable prices Monday through Friday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

You'll be able to get items like a half order of fish and chips or half of a sandwich with soup for only $6.95, and you'll have room for dessert! The dessert menu is nothing less than decadent with enough cakes, puddings and soda fountain treats to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth.

The deli also has a full bar so you can enjoy your pastrami sandwich with a glass of beer and not miss out on all of the March Madness games this month. Mazel Tov!
