This collection features a bevy of familiar Motown tunes remixed with a Latin flavor by artists from Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the U.S. The set starts off with a great take on Jr. Walker's “Shotgun” performed by Los Amigos Invisibles under the tutelage of DJ Afro before moving into a sweet “(Love is Like a) Heat Wave” and a dreamy “Papa Was a Rollin' Stone,” both done by David Elizondo, also known as Kid Kumbia.
The Jackson 5 is represented with two cuts; the SPK mix of “I Want You Back” and the Miami Mix (George Noriega and Jodi Marr) of “Dancing Machine.” Diana Ross' “The Boss” gets a reggaeton treatment from Chosen Few. while Fun Machine drops the soul from Marvin Gaye's “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” in favor of a straight-up house number. Teena Marie's “Square Biz” is an unexpected treat, redone here by Sonidero Nacional.
