Most hip-hop fans have heard the hit single, “Party Like a Rockstar.” Rasheed “Sheed” Hightower, Richard “Fat” Stephens and Demetrius “Meany” Hardin combine rock and rap like Kid Rock.

The Shop Boyz bring a “Lil Jon” type of wildness to their music. Rockstar Mentality has a few hits that stand out, including “Bowen Homes,” “They Like Me” and “Next to Me.” My choice for their next single would be “Showin’ Me Love.” The only downside is that it’s one of the shortest on the CD.

Most of this album is surprisingly solid, though they could have done more lyrically on “Sumthin’ to Talk ’Bout,” “Baby Girl,” “Flexin’” and “My Car.” These were not good attempts to set themselves apart from other rap groups that have a rock ’n’ roll sound.
