Possibly the most definitive anthology of Bob Dylan renditions, this dual-disc collection includes both his greatest hits and obscure gems. The album opens with an epic version of “All Along the Watchtower” by Eddie Vedder, joined by the Million Dollar Bashers. One track after another, the sheer creativity of the renditions by some of today’s hottest artists evokes the spirit of Dylan, which is majestically rendered in the film itself.

From Sufjan Stevens’s “Ring Them Bells” to Jeff Tweedy’s “Simple Twist of Fate,” there’s a reverent approach to each song. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova chime out “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” in a youthful duet, and even Jack Johnson offers a contribution on the medley “Mama You’ve Been on My Mind/A Fraction of Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie.”

Here’s a brilliant collection by musicians at the top of their game. Every reinvented Dylan song is in homage to the poetic master of this – or any – age.
