This five-song EP leads off with “To Live and Die in L.A.,” but it’s not the Wang Chung song from the movie of the same name. It’s an original written by Hazelden frontwoman Mary Jane Snow, and unlike the gloom and doom portrayed in the Wang Chung namesake, it’s a joyous celebration of enjoying life in the big city and wanting to hold onto it.

Deadstock Rock is a pretty good showcase for Snow; she writes concise rockers that check in at the radio-friendly three and a half minute mark, and with “64 Redcliffe Gardens” the band taps into a groove familiar to fans of ’80s hit-makers Scandal.
