Once in a while you discover a comedic genius who makes you wonder where they’ve been all your life. Enter Melissa McCarthy. Many people know her from “Gilmore Girls” or “Samantha Who?,” but every weekend McCarthy, cousin to Jenny, delivers gut-busting performances with the Groundlings.

Three of the night’s funniest skits feature McCarthy: “Love,” where she plays a sex-starved office employee stalking her co-worker, “Nanny Cam,” in which she’s on trial for mistreatment of kiddies and “Taste Test,” where she plays an overanxious sampler of salad dressing.

Another hilarious skit is “Signs,” where a speaker toys with a sign language interpreter as she translates his speech to the audience.

Groundlings Theatre is located at 7307 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. For more information, visit www.groundlings.com.
