I’m baffled. In The Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson proved that one could mix live action, CGI and makeup effects convincingly.

So what is the point of the rotoscoping technique used in this film? It has neither the immediacy nor magic of the film medium, nor does it have the kinetic vibrancy of animation.

It renders Beowulf a soulless exercise in technology. This film manages to make even carousing Norsemen austere and somber.
