While a movie starring Nathan Fillion (“Firefly”) and Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) seems like a nerd dream, it turns nightmarish once you find out that it is the straight-to-DVD sequel to the supernatural flop White Noise. This time around, the hero’s recovery from a near-death incident lets him see the series’s EVP (electronic voice phenomena) gimmick, allowing him to somehow know who is going to die soon.

Considering how thoroughly the film falls apart by the end, it’s nice that the DVD’s extras are a blast. While the “making of” feature is fun, the tour through the “haunted” mental hospital by Fillion is almost worth the viewing on its own.
