Neon Neon is a new project featuring Super Furry Animals singer Gruff Rhys and Echo Park electronica artist Bryan Hollon, a.k.a. Boom Bip. Stainless Style is a slow, spiritual number sung by Rhys and very reminiscent of something you might hear on a SFA album.

Boom Bip lays down a dance beat for “I Lust U.” Between the synth track arrangement and powerful vocals from guest Cate LeBron, the song sounds much like the Eurythmics.

Quite a few other artists guest here too. Spank Rock and Sean Tillmann take a turn at trip-hop on “Trick for Treat.” Members of Yo Majesty steam up an industrial groove on “Sweat Shop” and Fatlip explores the dubious road to fame on “Luxury Pool.”

Clearly many listeners will be confused or put off by the variety of styles here, but those with open minds for well-performed music will have a little gold mine on their hands.
