A mysterious mist rolls in, blanketing a small town. A group of people barricade themselves in a supermarket. They soon find that something is lurking in the fog.

The movie takes the form of The Thing or Alien, as the group of disparate people tries to survive an otherworldly terror and their own differences. However, director Frank Darabont is unable to sustain any tension as his annoying characters squabble and act entirely without reason. He seems more concerned with laying on thick the obvious allegory, forgetting that horror stories are also supposed to be entertaining.
