To call jazz pianist Marian McPartland a significant music ambassador is an understatement. At age 90, she shows no sign of slowing down.

McPartland’s latest, Twilight World, mixes familiar standards (“Alfie,” “Blue in Green,” “How Deep Is the Ocean?”) alongside sumptuous original ballads such as graceful “Stranger In a Dream,” the sunset elegy “Twilight World” and elegiac “In the Days of Our Love.” There are many McPartland records to choose from, but if you’ve never heard McPartland’s lightly swinging, harmonious work, Twilight World is a rewarding experience.
