The cast of “An Act of Love” takes a sharp script by David Landsberg and transforms it into a hysterical evening of comedic theater brilliance.
Peter (Timothy Hornor) is a man trying to take control of his life and cast aside the demons of his past. He confronts his eccentric, less-than-loving mother (Susan Sullivan), takes on his pregnant, ne’er-do-well sister Julia (Hedy Burress) and struggles to put a recent divorce behind him. All of this, while his burqa-clad, blind date Maureen (Beth Kennedy) hovers in an out of the picture.
The repartee between Hornor and Sullivan is fast and loose and elicits more than a few guffaws. It’s Kennedy’s performance, however, that just about steals the show – despite the fact that we only ever see her eyes.
