It’s sometimes hard to tell whether the Von Bondies are famous, or infamous for that matter, for the right reasons. From frontman Jason Stollsteimer’s much-publicized brawl with main White Stripe Jack White to landing a coveted theme song slot for FX TV drama “Rescue Me,” the Von Bondies have caught as many headlines for their music as they have for their scandals.

Fresh off their SXSW stint in March, the Von Bondies transfer the energetic yelps and punk-blues ambience from their acclaimed Pawn Shoppe Heart to the stage, rolling out forgotten gems from their back catalogue, including “It Came From Japan” from 2001’s White-produced Lack of Communication. More exciting, though, were cuts from the recent We Are Kamikazes EP, previews of the band’s third full-length album Love, Hate, and Then There’s You due this fall.
