Mad Money, directed by Callie Khouri, provides little in the way of comedy, entertainment or suspense. The story of three women’s masterminding a bank heist falls short in every possible way.

The actresses – Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah – get completely wasted with nothing interesting to do or say. The little interaction we do get is mundane and repetitive.

The action strains credulity, and there is nowhere near enough fun. Khouri seems to think that multiple montage sequences fill in the blanks for a lack of plotting and character development, especially disappointing from the woman who wrote Thelma & Louise. Why do smart women make such foolish choices?
