When did it become normal for TV shows to release soundtracks? This strange trend, however capitalist in intention, often provides an excellent mix of music, as evidenced in the case of “Weeds.”

The delightful opening song for the Showtime series, “Little Boxes,” provides the perfect set up for the backdrop of malaise in suburbia. Each season, a different artist covers the song and the choice for the third season, Randy Newman, works splendidly.

An eclectic mix of songs, Weeds: Music from the Series Vol. 3, manages to convincingly evoke the tone of the TV show.
