The blues guitar virtuoso kicked off the show with a brand new tune, “Spike Driver Blues,” before launching into a torrent of familiar songs – “Bridge to Better Days,” “Your Funeral and My Trial” and the beautiful “Asking Around for You” from You and Me (2006); “Woke Up Dreaming” and the title track from Blues Deluxe (2003); “Don’t Burn Down that Bridge” from A New Day Yesterday (2000).

He capped the evening of with a brilliant mash-up of ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid” and Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused” and a few songs from last year’s Sloe Gin, an album that sat at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart for more than 10 weeks.

In between songs, Bonamassa quipped to the crowd that he used to live “in relative obscurity up the street in Los Feliz … Where were all of you then?”

Well, we’re here now Joe, and we’re not going anywhere.
