You’re a teenage boy living in Cali, and you love to surf. You’re not alone.

But there are only a handful of hardcores that wake up at the crack of dawn and head to the sea to sneak in a set before the school day starts. Some even drop out completely so they have more time to surf.

These are the boys that director Angelo Mei follows in his debut documentary. We watch as eight Huntington Beach High hopefuls drop in, layback, kick out, travel to Australia, talk about their aspirations to compete on the Association of Surfing Professionals’ World Championship Tour (only 44 men in the world qualify each year) and, yep, dream.
