By now you should all know I go to each new Groundlings presentation with the hope that Melissa McCarthy will be one of the players. Alas, this was not the case again. As with the last production, however, the other talented Groundlings more than make up for her absence.

Stand-out skits include Speed Dating, Playdate and a hilarious acting out of Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” In fact, I may have found my No. 2 fave Groundling: Jill Matson-Sachoff. The way she wears her pants high is too much.

Another entertaining part of the Groundlings show is the improv sections. This time, Steve Little and Andrew Friedman elicited laughter with their impersonations of Bush and Cheney hunting, then quickly traveling back in time to the Wright brothers trying to fly, and then back to the future again.

The Groundlings Theater is located at 7307 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. For more information, visit www.groundlings.com.
