They’re ugly, they’re useless and they’re taking over. No, it’s not the dorm roommates from hell. It’s the cane toads of Australia.

Cane Toads: An Unnatural History spotlights these odd creatures, their journey to Australia, their ultimate inability to eat the bugs killing the sugar cane and how they ended up overpopulating and taking over small towns. Perhaps even stranger, though, are the reactions from the community – which range from acceptance to violent hatred to one little girl who keeps a toad as a pet.

Admittedly, this film is a reminder of how much picture quality has progressed from its filming in 1982 to today, but it’s an interesting story. The DVD also includes volumes of supplementary material.
