The lengthy and non-sensible title of this album is your first clue that this six-piece is, uh, special. But it’s definitely a cool kind of special, and one that’ll keep the band from being pigeonholed.

“Motherfather” finds the band in a happy-go-lucky mood, singing to an airy melody that sounds like something the Partridge Family might have done after chowing-down on marijuana brownies. “Put in a Little Gas,” on the other hand, opens with a heavy bass and drum rhythm that comes straight out of the Led Zeppelin songbook, while “The Gospel Song” might be something you’d get if you lined up the Bee Gees and yelled “sing!” while you shot at their feet.

Those who like adventurous music as made by the likes of the Flaming Lips, Polyphonic Spree or the Appleseed Cast will find familiar sounds here.
