Throw all notions of cooking classes away, because Hipcooks will change the way you think about stepping into the kitchen. At Hipcooks, there’s no need for measuring cups or following exact recipes to a T, their culinary instructors encourage you to use the most essential tool you could ever have: your palette.

First, you have to choose a class to attend, which might just be the hardest part since there are so many options. From A Romantic Dinner for Two to Turning Japanese – and everything in between (Spanish, French, Moroccan, Greek, Thai Italian Chinese, Persian) – Hipcooks has most cuisines covered.

Each class ranges from $55 to $65 and includes all the ingredients you’ll need, plus beverages. Your instructor will guide you through preparing the menu for the evening, and the night ends with all the students getting to eat what they’ve made.

The next day, a list of the recipes for the dishes you created will be e-mailed to you. You can even buy utensils, aprons and other accessories from Hipcooks’ store, so you can start cooking on your own right away.

Hipcooks also offers specialized courses (at an extra charge) for health-conscious cooks who are interested in eating raw or wheat, dairy and gluten-free. And with the holidays approaching, they’ll show you how to make special treats and even put a spin on Thanksgiving classics.

With two convenient locations, on the Westside and near downtown, whether you’re a culinary newbie or already on the road to becoming the next Rachael Ray, there’s no excuse not to hop on over and try a class.

Hipcooks is located at 2833 S. Robertson Blvd., West Los Angeles and 642 Moulton Ave., Unit E21, Downtown. For more information, visit
