For those who can never get a full “fix” of holiday music, Christmas comes early with “A Christmas Thrance,” using a variety of musical genres and improv theater styles to portray each song’s lyrics and message.

The mix of eclectic musical numbers ranges from the upbeat “Jingle Bells” (a Fred Waring arrangement) and Andy Williams’ classic “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” to the more modern dance interpretations of Tracy Chapman’s “O Holy Night” and “A Hip-Hop Carol” by Kyle Massey.

A particularly memorable scene involves a creative stage re-enactment of Duke Ellington’s “The Nutcracker Suite,” where a city scene is played out complete with busy shoppers, street people and carolers.

“A Christmas Thrance” is a sure winner to escape the holiday “blues.”
