With the long-time success of the Marvel vs. Capcom series of games, the only real surprise about “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” is just how long it took for them to make this fighting game-comic book crossover. Fortunately, the time taken was well worth the wait.

The first thing to note about “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” is just how good the game looks and plays on the next gen consoles. DC favorites like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have been well crafted to look and fight as if they have been at it as long as classic “MK” characters like Liu Kang, Raiden and Shang Tsung.

Each side has a large roster of memorable heroes and villains, all of which have cool moves and fatalities (except for the DC heroes because heroes don’t kill) with two intertwining stories in the Story Mode. The game also introduces new treats like the free fall kombat and the Test Your Might mode where you literally ram your opponent through a building.

Of course, it’s violent. Of course, the storyline is a bit weak, but the game succeeds on many levels, making it a fun fighter for “Mortal Kombat” and “DC” fans alike.
