An opening jam; not many bands include one these days, but when they do it’s a whole new game. With childlike passion, Scott Weiland brought together the Fonda in the span of a single song. Cigarette in hand, his fists gripped the mic as his body drifted through the set list.

The show gave the crowd a taste of the past with “Vasoline,” “Unglued” and “Interstate Love Song.” The crowd didn’t even seem to be phased by the mix that night: The board was off and the sound came out with Weiland’s vocals underneath the music a lot of the time.

It’s the connection that Weiland has with the crowd that makes his performances work. He is truly one of the last Rockstars out there.
