Often times in a college setting, we encounter situations that require parental intervention. Flat tire? Call up the pops.

This is no longer required thanks to Steve Elliott’s aptly titled book, The Portable Dad. This guide is chock full of highly useful information for the budding adult.

The book is broken down into chapters, ranging from cars (how to change oil, etc.) to yard work and even how to handle computer viruses, dad-style. While there aren’t as many photos and illustrations as one would like, they are used when necessary, such as where to put the jack when changing the aforementioned flat tire.

Of course, there are plenty of topics that The Portable Dad fails to cover; categories like sex, drugs/alcohol and cooking, mainly everything a typical college male is concerned with.

Grade: B

The Portable Dad will be available April 6.
