Cup of Java – As in Javanese Opera


Cup of Java is a series of performances by seven of Java’s most distinguished artists presented by UCLA’s Center for Intercultural Performance. The evening includes classical Javanese opera, theatrical dance, puppetry and Gamelan music that draws from Hindu and Islamic heritage and synthesizes energy, spirituality and emotion. The concert is April 18 from 8 p.m.–10 p.m. and costs $10 general admission, $8 for UCLA students.



Shelf Life: A Big Day for Small Press

Saturday, April 18, independent publishers, artists, writers and designers who have pushed the boundaries of popular culture will gather at USC for a bazaar and panel discussion. The bazaar, from 12 p.m.-4 p.m., is free and includes books, magazines, art, free food from a taco truck and a DJ set by Wendy Yao, artist and owner of Ooga Booga in Chinatown.
