This Albuquerque-based duo (Brett and Rennie Sparks) is very organic in both their style and subject matter. You can just picture the pair writing and recording these songs holed up in a rustic cabin in the middle of nowhere.

Brett sings about antelope and redwood trees (“Little Sparrows”), green buds and June bugs (“Junebugs”), wolves and caves (“Wild Wood”) and even sings from the perspective of an insect on “Darling, My Darling” where the lyrics include mention of his antennae and “hard red pincers.” These apparent paeans to Mother Nature are really just love songs dressed up in metaphor and sound honest and true delivered in various styles of down-tempo country/folk music, especially when Brett tunes in to his inner Hoyt Axton.
