This esoteric release blends Weimer Republic-era overtures (think Marlene Dietrich and Cabaret), Euro-trash dance, polka and campy humor. On trashy club tune “Shake Your Dance Stick” and electro-pop piece “Awfully Confusing,” Mistress Stephanie and Her Melodic Cat (Austin, Texas performance artists/musicians Stephanie Stephens and Adam Sultan) trade PG-rated word play that is carnally amusing.

Deadpan music hall missive “Grey” mixes lyrical references to British rock and punk (“That would be fancy/Like Sid and Nancy”) with downcast admonitions. “Johnny Gewürztraminer” combines Plastic Bertrand-styled joke punk with a “Bad Bad Leroy Brown”-esque antagonist.

The package clocks in at about 30 minutes, just enough time for Mistress Stephanie and her feline partner to make their point and head out the exit.
