On his birthday, Galaxy midfielder Eddie Lewis scored with one minute remaining to help the hosts earn a 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew at the Home Depot Center. Lewis, who is now 35, blasted a powerful left-footed shot from 25 yards away and netted the goal inside the right post of the visitors’ net and through goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum.

Columbus (1-2-6) took a 1-0 edge when Argentine forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto fired a shot from 18 yards and scored his fifth goal of the campaign. The Crew has a five game unbeaten streak.

The tie helped Los Angeles improve their unbeaten streak to seven matches; the team is now 1-1-7 for the season with 10 points. They are currently tied for fifth place in the Western Conference along Real Salt Lake.

Up next for the Galaxy is a brief trip to Texas, as they square off against FC Dallas on Saturday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m.
