While most of L.A. was experiencing the “magic” of the Lakers June 11, Broadway enthusiasts were in for an unexpected magical treat themselves when Shoshana Bean performed, singing her favorite Barbra Streisand hits, as well as contemporary tunes from her debut CD, Superhero.

Like a fairy princess, in a sequined, sparkly evening gown, Shoshana Bean made a grand entrance into the Ford’s rustic, tranquil setting, singing “On a Clear Day,” complete with full band accompaniment. Bean lit up the stage, as well as the hearts and lives of her audience, as she effortlessly belted both classic and original tunes, paying tribute to her longtime idol, Barbra, and recalling Streisand’s 1964 Central Park concert, where the audience percolated with excitement.

Bean, best known for her roles on Broadway in “Wicked” and “Hairspray,” sang Streisand classics like “Second Hand Rose,” “Evergreen,” “Memories” and “Don’t Rain on my Parade,” as well as her original, profound songs, “Again” and “116th,” based on her true life and love experiences.

Upcoming performances in this trio of outdoor concerts celebrating the phenomenon that is “Wicked” include Eden Espinosa July 24 and Stephen Schwartz Aug. 23.
