This edition of Groundlings is a tad more dark than usual. Between a grown man who has “accidents” in his pants to a special needs teen visiting and getting overly friendly with a mermaid accompanied by his foul-mouthed grandma, the show uses harsh realities to fuel humor.
The funniest skit involves castle dwellers visited by a witch who turns them into puppets and hilarious commentary from two groundskeepers mistaken for court jesters who go on a tirade about their foolish outfits. Another slapstick sketch is a beach setting where two frat boys look forward to meeting chicks when an odd, in-your-face, foreign brother-sister duo put a wrench in their pick-up plans.
