It’s hard not to instantly like Big D and the Kids Table. The big band primarily plays fun ska, but they have a different vibe than most other American groups in the genre.

The difference in style is distinguished by the band’s horn section being used tastefully and the liberal use of female back-up vocals. The girls grab attention on the title cut and “Stop, Look & Listen (Shake Life Up)” and come close to stealing the entire show. But singer David McWane holds his own, especially on the B-52’s-like romp “Doped Up Dollies on a One-Way Ticket to Blood.”
