Both No. 3-ranked UCLA and USC begin Pac-10 action at home this week.

UCLA, who holds a 9-1-1 record, start conference play as one of the favorites to win the Pac-10. The team is coming off a convincing 2-0 win over Pepperdine on the road last Friday.

Sophomore forward Sydney Leroux leads the Bruins in goals with 11, along with one assist. Senior striker Kristina Larsen has chipped in seven scores and three assists. The Bruins only loss thus far came at No. 1 North Carolina in August by a score of 2-7.

USC, on the other hand, is 8-3 overall. They defeated No. 25-ranked University of San Diego Friday on a powerful 4-0 mark. USC’s three losses have come against Top-20 programs (No. 15 Ohio State, No. 16 St. John’s, No. 17 Texas A&M). Junior midfielder Alyssa Dávila leads the Trojan attack with five goals and four assists.

Pac-10 play opens Friday: UCLA hosts Arizona at Drake Stadium at 7 p.m., while USC entertains Arizona State at McAlister Field at 3 p.m.
