Rocktober had been the target date, and it was met. Video game “Brütal Legend,” published by Electronic Arts and developed by Tim Schafer, released yesterday.

“Those involved spent four years making it,” Schafer says.

The cool thing about “Brütal Legend,” for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is that it features Jack Black as the character of Eddie Riggs. Black voices Riggs, a roadie who is sent into a mythical Age of Rock to fight evil and save humanity.

“Brütal Legend” contains more than 100 heavy metal songs, including prominent tracks from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. Both Black and Schafer are huge fans of the genre. They were an ideal match to collaborate on the game.

“We are both lovers of heavy metal and video games,” Black says. “We really are into the music, rocking, and we were feeling the glory.”

“Brutal Legend” is currently available.
