The Oregon backwoods brought us Blitzen Trapper at the El Rey for a full set of rustic, country mountain songs. The music was hit right on every chord, key, smack and shake. They played everything we love and more, including a Bob Dylan cover.
Singer Eric Earley with his louder, high-pitched uh-oh-y “Fire & Fast Bullets” voice sounded a little too pop-y to make sense with the rest of the set, but his softer “Lady on the Water” voice put you on a dark, cloud-covered lake in the mountains, that jibed with their continuity.
