I first heard Lissie while watching the end credits of Wedding Craze, and was immediately turned on to the playful character of her voice. Since then, I have been waiting for the day I’d be able to get my hands on some of her music.

Two years and a couple record labels later, Lissie is finally able to get her feet off the ground with her debut EP, Why You Runnin’. This seemingly mellow introduction to this self-taught guitarist is meant to emphasize her dynamic, twangy, vocal range.

All six songs are a tribute to her childhood, having grown up in Rock Island, Ill. “Wedding Bells” and “Everywhere I Go” are the two stand out tracks that embody the gritty folk/country combination only a girl from the South could do right.
