Pomona received a belated Halloween treat in the form of Little Dragon. The Swedish quartet rocked the Glass House in their unique, electronic-acoustic style.

Only a quarter full, the venue transformed into an intimate show for diehard fans. The band played selections from both Little Dragon and the new album, Machine Dreams. I was excited to experience the new album live, but loved hearing the band revisit favorites like “Constant Surprises,” “After the Rain” and “Twice.”

Little Dragon really takes their studio albums to the next level when performing live. Erik Bodin had the snare drum sounding perfect with Yukimi Nagano and Fredrik Källgren Wallin, at times contributing to the rhythms with percussions. Håkan Wirenstrand flawlessly brought all those memorable synth parts to life on tracks like “My Step” and “Runabout.”

Listening to and watching Nagano on stage is simply hypnotic. The combination of her soulful voice and aboriginal-like, rain dancing movements gets the crowd going; like on “Test,” when fans formed a big, rotating circle, melodically chanting along.

Little Dragon at the Glass House was definitely a treat. Their extensive tour schedule has produced a great set list and phenomenal live show.
