Seems that Angie Stone is going through some growing pains as she tries to bridge her transition from smooth R&B into adult contemporary. Stone may not inten-tionally be on the track to AC Radio, but this CD leads one to that conclusion. With strange sound effects littering her ballads and even some of the more upbeat songs, it makes one question her producer credit.

Halfway through this cheaply put together collection of songs is the overused auto-tune. Will someone please ban this from music? Daft Punk showed us all the way, and it seems that R&B drove it into the ground.

Stone does show us some of her chops on “Maybe,” but like the other tracks, it has too much going on in the background – overproduced and very Unexpected indeed of Ms. Angie Stone.
