Just how many of us did what lead character John (Breckin Meyer) does, vowing to move to Canada in the event that George W. Bush got re-elected? But in Blue State, John is forced to make good on his word, having declared his drunken vow on live TV.

Seeking to share the road with a like-minded spirit, John places an ad and hooks up with Chloe (Anna Paquin), a gorgeous and feisty free spirit who just happens to be hiding her true reasons for fleeing the country.

Although it’s not a film for everyone, especially those in opposition to writer-director Marshall Lewy’s blatant political agenda, Blue State is ironically uplifting and one of the first truly unique love stories to come around in a long time.
