A group of soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress returns to their small Texas town. On the day Sgt. King is supposed to get out of the Army, he’s notified he has been “stop-lossed” and is being sent back to Iraq. In a rash decision, he goes AWOL.

Paint-by-numbers scenes are dragged further down by uninspired direction and annoying stylistic quirks. The serviceable cast, made up of Ryan Phillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Timothy Olyphant, can’t save it. It tries to be the Coming Home of Iraq but isn’t particularly convincing or engaging.
