Oddly enough, the movie makes no attempt to show an oppressive patriarchal society so, if you don’t believe this is true, Anna and her compatriots come off more as miscreants than freedom fighters. Ultimately, the resolutions to both the romantic and the militant plots make this a fun movie that probably shouldn’t be taken to seriously.
The DVD also oddly lacks any real extras, especially considering the film’s many references to feminist philosophies, leaders, books and rockers.
